Harlow & Thistle

Sharing a mood board I recently recreated for a client. Small spaces are such a wonderful challenge. People often say think outside the box but, per Phil from Modern Family, I like to think inside the box. For me parameters are the muse to my creativity. When I learned of this client's style I was excited at the opportunity but when I learned of the dimensions of their space the possibilities became limited (again for me a fun challenge). Here is the mood board, sketches and mock-ups I put together for their space (incorporating their existing couch).
Here is the shopping list for the items above:
1. Wall organizer, Wall Print, Desk Light
2. Paint - Black
3. Floating Shelves
4. Chairs
5. Coffee Table
6. Rug
7. Floor Light
8. Pillows (most important thing - small, medium and large print)
9. Desk Chair
10. Desk (below)

The mock-ups...

If you were following along on my Instagram before the holidays you would have felt my panic as we raced to complete our basement/bathroom renovation before Christmas. We were hosting Christmas Eve and our guests needed somewhere to sleep etc. Well I'm happy to report that we finished our reno just in time and my husband and I are still talking to eachother. I will post the reveal of the basement bathroom later this week but for now here are the plans and pics of the journey.

Bathroom Renovation plans - Harlow and Thistle
My husband let me do something a bit different in this bathroom. I've always felt basement bathrooms should be a bit more masculine and "gastro-pub-esque". So I knew I wanted to use cement design tile. Desert Tile had a great selection.

We chose Giorgia Cement Tile for the floor and white subway tile with dark grout for the shower.

We chose the Lahara Faucet from Delta in Champagne Bronze. If you've found it difficult to find a "gold" faucet in traditional retail stores, rest assured this amazing Delta faucet is available at Lowes.

Our bathroom space was "roughed-in" when we bought the house last year. We assumed "roughed-in" meant square and plum but oddly it did not. Of course, we didn't know this until the tile was being laid, but luckily we were able to make the necessary adjustments without starting over.

Alright, alright I've shown too much... Stay tuned for the final reveal later this week.
