What do you do with a formal living room? Gone are the days of retreating to the parlour for some witty banter and cognac. Formal living rooms are either being turned into offices or are being omitted from new home design plans altogether. Our home was built in the 70's so it has a formal living room and it's tough to turn it into anything else due to it's location in the house (although I have secret plans to install some antique doors and turn it into my office someday, ah a girl can dream). In the meantime I have decided to give it a modern living room makeover to make it feel more like the rest of our house. 

Here is the before photo of our formal living room. Pretty lax lustre, no pizzaz. This poor little forgotten room became the catch all for coats, knapsacks and winter accessories.

I found these great 3d fluted wall panels and installed them as a chair rail. Then I painted the entire wall with this colour called Gone fishing by Digby paints. You guys, Digby paints has such a unique process, you order online and they deliver to your front door in a cute box with all the supplies. I loved the no-nonsense approach and when it arrived I got really excited to paint! Special thanks to Digby Paints for supplying the paint for this makeover. I love the way this colour on the fluted panels makes my tan sofa pop!
