DIY Hula Hoop Christmas Wreath

Looking for an affordable and original Christmas Wreath? Today I'm sharing how to make your own DIY Hula Hoop Christmas Wreath - A super easy DIY Christmas project that's beautiful and customized with photos would make a great DIY Christmas Gift for the grandparents.

A few months ago Canadian Tire generously offered their CANVAS House to use as a studio for this DIY project and they provided me with all my supplies I needed. It was so lovely to create in a space so full of Christmas inspiration and beauty - if you caught my previous #CTChristmas post you know what I'm talking about.

As mentioned above this DIY is probably one of the easiest on my blog and it looks so much more expensive than it is. Here are the things I used to make this DIY Hula Hoop Christmas Wreath: classic hula hoop, Magnolia and Pine Garland, Decorative Christmas Picks and Sprays, Krylon Premium Gold Metallic Paint, soft wire, wire cutters, fishing line and some photos.

First I spray painted the hula hoop gold.

Next I cut a piece of the magnolia Christmas garland, wrapped it around 1/3 of the hula hoop and secured it with the wire.

Then I tied a few decorative sprigs together using the wire and twisted them onto the hula hoop evenly between the garland.

The key here is to step back and look at your wreath to make sure there are no major gaps.

Then I tied on a few pinecones in the middle.

Then I stretched some fishing line across the middle of the hula hoop and taped on some photos.

I love the way it turned out!
I can just imagine it packed with pics of the kids or old Christmas photos.

I also experimented with tilting and rotating the hoop.  So many options.

  2. Did you have any trouble getting the spray paint to stick to the hula hoop? Or dealing with drips at all?
