DIY Anthropologie Inspired Mirror

This week IDS17 is coming to Toronto and I'm so excited to be featuring the event on the blog. Stay tuned to the blog for my "must-see" list plus my real-time Instastories during the event.

Speaking of which I was asked by Krylon to prepare a DIY piece for their booth at IDS17. Anytime I am asked to create something for a certain purpose I am thrilled and inspired. Seriously, I think I live for these challenges. I've had my eye on this Krylon Looking Glass spray paint for some time. It's a spray paint that turns any glass surface into a mirror. I didn't believe it myself until I tried and I was amazed. So here are the details of my DIY Anthropologie inspired Mirror.

Here are the things I used in this project; Krylon Looking Glass Spray paint, floral fabric, frame and scissors. Full disclosure, I experimented with a few different technique for this project and it ended up that the simplest solution was my favourite solution.

I bought these shirts off the clearance rack at Forever 21 awhile ago (I bought them because they were similar to Ellie Casham's dark floral wallpaper - gorgeous!). I'm always looking for unique places for DIY inspiration.

I took the glass out of the frame and lightly sprayed it with the looking glass spray (all over but some areas heavier than others).

Then I cut a piece of fabric to fit the frame.

And assembled. So easy!

That's it! You could do this technique with any fabric or even a photo.

To add another layer of depth you could try spraying the glass with a water-vinegar solution before the looking glass spray paint. It will add little drops similar to mercury glass (I tried this but in the end I preferred the plain spray.

    1. Thanks Jess! The looking glass spray is amazing. Two things to remember; definitely wear a mask (it's pretty strong) and buy it a Michaels using their 40% coupon. Let me know if you use it for anything : )
