I've been a bit silent on the blog lately because my family and I just moved into a new house. It's a temporary home that we are living in while we flip it (more to come on this soon). One thing that I am adamant about when I move into a new home is changing the locks, especially in this home with so many trades having access to our key before we moved in. That's why I was super excited to partner with Grandeur Hardware as part of the Modern Handmade Home Series to install new door hardware and locks on our exterior doors. And I thought I'd give the entire door a makeover while I was at it.

I'm sharing our side door makeover (the most used door of the house) and in a few weeks I will share the update to the front door (the door didn't arrive in time for this post). Here is a before pic of the side door, I think it really gives you a good sense of what we're working with.


Grandeur Hardware product arrives in a beautiful black box with a thank you card and shine cloth. It really feels luxurious. I selected an Entrance Set from their Arc Collection with a circular knob and tall plate in timeless bronze. The weight of the door knob is really substantial which speaks to the quality of the product itself. Installing this new door hardware was quick and easy and the instructions were easy to follow. I used the existing holes in my door so that helped.



I decided I wanted to paint the door a great hunter green. I really wanted a subtle contrast between the door hardware and the door itself. I also painted the panes black and added a rattan roman blind for privacy. It really looks like a brand new door, a little update but it has a big impact.
