Modern Holiday Home: Holiday Decorating Ideas

by - 08:33:00

Wow November is flying by, I can't believe it's already week 4 of our #ModernHolidayHome Series. This week we've partnered with The Home Depot Canada to share some holiday decorating ideas. They have a wide selection of holiday decor this year and, as you can see from the other bloggers in the series, The Home Depot holiday decor is really versatile.
This year it seems "Flocked" is the buzz word of the season so I decided to decorate my main floor using flocked garland, beads and some white reindeer. I love the way it turned out. PS - There's a video at the bottom of this post if you want a quick overview.

If this is your first time reading about this series I'll fill you in, I've teamed up with some amazing Canadian DIY bloggers for a great series called the Modern Holiday Home where we each share a holiday project each week for five weeks (You can catch up here; Week 1 Christmas Tote, Week 2 Deer Print Serving Board, Week 4 Lantern).

I originally purchased some Un-lit Pine Garland and it was gorgeous except I quickly realized I needed lights so I went back to the store and picked up the Meadow Frost pre-lit garland. This garland is awesome, it has LED lights, pinecones, ornaments and snow - what else could you need? hmm... beads, beads and more beads. I had this vision in my head that if I bunched enough beads together it would create an icy holiday look. It took a couple tries but I figured out that the less perfect I tried to make it the better. I also picked up two white deer for the mantel. Then I just copied the same look on my mirror and wall unit. I was thrilled with the result.

And a little video if you want a quick summary of this post.
