DIY "JOY" Christmas Sign - #HolidayForageFriday

by - 15:59:00

Here is my entry into this week's #HolidayForageFriday Instagram challenge. This week's item was "rocks". I decided to make a Christmas sign with my favourite holiday word "JOY". Feel free to pick any word or phrase but keep in mind how long it takes to arrange the rocks - a phrase like "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" might send you roasting this DIY.

For this DIY Joy sign I simply purchased some plastic frames from the dollar store and foraged for some rocks in my back yard.  The other items I had in my craft cupboard (eg glue gun, gold and black sharpies, white paint and white paper).
First start by painting the rocks white. You can skip this step if you feel your gold marker will adequately cover your rocks. In which case start by coloring the rocks gold here.
Next draw some stripes on white paper or use some wrapping paper. Cut to fit the frames.
Arrange the rocks into your letters and glue onto the frame with hot glue.
Next color the rocks gold with the marker (again might be easier to do at the beginning).
That's it. The cutest little DIY JOY Christmas sign. The best thing about this Christmas sign is that you can change out the paper in the frame to match your decor each year - just use wrapping paper.

Be sure to check out some of my other #HolidayForageFriday DIY items. And tune in next week to see the final forage item.
