How to Hygge your Home | Harlow & Thistle

Well it started snowing again this morning and I have to say there's nothing better than curling up in a big fur blanket, turning on the fire and watching the snow fall. So cozy. So Hygge... That wasn't a sneeze, Hygge, pronounced "hew-ge" is the Scandinavian word for a mood of coziness, comfort and contentment (who wouldn't want that?).
Together with a few other blogger friends in my Modern Handmade Home series we've partnered with Wayfair to share a few tips on how to Hygge your home. Don't worry, this is one of those design trends that isn't expensive, it's easy to do and you may already be doing it and not even know it.

How to Hygge your Home:

Tip #1: Use Candles to Decorate
Pillar, tea, long, skinny, whatever candles you have get them out. Here a few from Wayfair that are decorative and functional. Let's face it any type of flame is cozy.

Tip #2: Decluttered
Only keep things out that have meaning or that make you feel good. This minimalistic approach makes it easy to edit your stuff, declutter your space and your well-being. Wayfair has some great storage solutions to help make your life more organized and uncluttered.

Tip #3: Use Lots of Cozy Textures
Furs, wool, sheepskin. All these elements help to add Hygge to your home. Check out these great fur throws and poufs from Wayfair. I also find, these pieces can live in any place in your home and I often see my fur blankets roaming around the house (everyone wants it).
