DIY Reclaimed Wood Shelf, Chalkboard and Birdhouse

by - 21:13:00

This blog post is an overview of a project my dad built for our new house (yes, DIY runs in the family, lol).  As background, when we moved into our new house we noticed the old owners had taken the very charming coatrack/shelf from the mud room. My dad secretly took on the mission to replace it. He used old wood from the shed of my childhood home and made not only a shelf but a matching chalkboard and birdhouse - what a nice keepsake/housewarming gift.

Here's the shed from my childhood home. He replaces the door each year so the old wood was the perfect match for our rustic decor.
Here's my proud papa putting the finishing touches on the birdhouse - I love the asymmetrical roof.
The finished product, complete with a little hanging sign that says my sons name.
